Toronto Blue Jays at Atlanta Braves Odds

Atlanta (-150) is hosting this one as the favorite over Toronto (+140) and Vegas has put the Over/Under for this game at 9 runs (+100 for the over and -120 for the under). You can also bet on the game’s spread with the most recent runline odds sitting at Blue Jays +1.5 runs (-155) and Braves -1.5 runs (+135).

The Blue Jays are 42-48 SU and have gone 42-47 against the spread (ATS). They’ve lost 7.3 units for gamblers taking the moneyline and 8.8 units ATS. Toronto is 3-4 ATS over its last seven games and the under has hit in four of those seven. The Braves, on the other hand, are 50-40 SU and 47-41 ATS. The team’s gained 15.2 units for bettors taking the moneyline and 3.5 units ATS. Atlanta has a 3-4 ATS record over its last seven outings and the over has cashed in four of those seven.

Braves games have had an over/under record of 44-40-4 so far in 2018. The Blue Jays have an over/under record of 41-40-8.

Sam Gaviglio will get the nod for Toronto. The right-handed Gaviglio (2-2, 3.81 ERA) has recorded 51 strikeouts in 52 innings so far. He has yet to face the Braves this year and did not record a start against them in 2017, either.

The Braves will send righty Mike Foltynewicz (6-5, 2.37 ERA) to the mound. Foltynewicz has 114 strikeouts and 40 walks to his credit, as well as a WHIP of 1.11. Foltynewicz only made one start against the Blue Jays in 2017 (1-0, 4.50 ERA across six innings).

As a unit, Atlanta’s pitching staff has allowed 4.2 runs per game overall in 2018. The team’s starters have an ERA of 3.58, a WHIP of 1.25 and a strikeouts-per-nine of 8.8. The bullpen has a 4.33 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 9.1 K/9.

The Atlanta offense is putting up 4.9 runs per contest, including 4.5 per game over its last 10 games and 3.2 per game over its last five. The team’s hit .233/.321/.319 over its last five matchups and is 1-4 SU during that span.

The Braves’ offense has been led by right fielder Nick Markakis and second baseman Ozzie Albies. Markakis is hitting .324/.391/.493 with 10 home runs, 59 RBIs and 54 runs scored, and Albies is batting .285 with 18 homers, 50 RBIs, 71 runs and nine stolen bases.

For the visitors, Toronto’s pitching staff allowed 4.8 runs per game and its starters own a 4.90 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 8.01 K/9. The bullpen has an ERA of 3.95, along with a K-per-9 of 9.09.

Blue Jays hitters have slashed .236/.311/.418 on their way to 4.4 runs scored per game this year, including 3.9 runs per game over the team’s last 10 games and 4.2 per game over the team’s last five contests (2-3 SU).

Toronto’s hitters have been led by third baseman Yangervis Solarte and right fielder Kevin Pillar. Solarte is hitting .250/.309/.442 with 16 home runs, 48 RBIs and 42 runs scored. Pillar is hitting .243/.276/.402 with eight homers, 33 RBIs, 40 runs and 11 stolen bases.

The Blue Jays have gained 3.3 units and are 27-30 ATS when facing a righty starter this season. The over has cashed in 28 of those games, compared to 25 that’ve gone under against right-handed starting pitchers. On the other hand, the Braves have netted 12.3 units and are 35-27 ATS when facing a righty starter. The over has hit in 29 of those games, compared to 29 that went under the total.
