Super Bowl 53 Halftime Show Props

While the Super Bowl is the biggest game of the year, the halftime show is also the biggest concert of the year.

This year, the stage will belong to Maroon 5, along with Travis Scott and Big Boi, and there are no shortage of prop bets when it comes to the halftime show.

From how many songs will they sing, to what they wear, to surprise appearances, there are a number of things you can wager on even when the game is on a break. Let’s look at the Halftime Show props and break down the odds:

Total Songs

Over 6.5: -115

Under 6.5: -115

After Justin Timberlake got in a whopping 11 songs last season it could be easy to say go with the over, but look at prior years.

Lady Gaga only went with seven, while in 2016 Coldplay got in six while sharing the stage, and getting upstaged, by Beyonce and Bruno Mars. Maroon 5 is also sharing the stage, so be sure to account for Travis Scott and Big Boi getting one or two of their songs in as well.

What will they Wear?

Kaepernick: +200 Yes/-300 No

Levine Hat: -150 Yes/+120 No

There a couple of prop bets when it comes to clothing.

The more controversial of the bets is whether someone on stage will be wearing a Colin Kaepernick jersey. There have been reports that the NFL offered the show to a few other artists like Jay Z and Cardi B, but Kaepernick’s unemployment kept them from doing the show.

So, perhaps there is a chance Big Boi or Travis Scott, maybe even a member of Maroon 5, will show their support for the former Super Bowl quarterback by donning a No. 7 jersey. However, the odds are it won’t happen. You have to believe the NFL will have strict wardrobe codes and a Kaepernick jersey is probably at the top of that list.

There is another wardrobe prop bet with whether Adam Levine will wear a hat at -150 yes and +120 for no. I don’t know about you, but I’ve never actually seen Levine perform with a hat. He also has a good head of hair, so why not show that off?

What will they do?

Take a knee: -300 Yes/+220 No

One bet that has come out is whether any of the performers will take a knee. This is tricky — does taking a knee during the show to reach down and touch a fan’s hand count?

If it’s about Kaepernick in a show of support, it will be done at the end. But again, the NFL doesn’t want to be embarrassed so you better bet the NFL has told, or will tell, the performers to not show up the NFL.

Whether they listen is another thing, because once they are out there all the NFL can do is watch with the rest of us.

Surprise guest?

Christina Aguilera: +220 Yes/-300 No

Mick Jagger: +300 Yes/-400 No

There are two prop bets with surprise guests and they are Christina Aguilera and Mick Jagger.

Go with no for Christina given the game is broadcast on CBS and the show The Voice, that stars both Levine and Aguilera, is on NBC. CBS probably doesn’t want a plug for a non-CBS show.

Mick Jagger would be fun, he’s done the halftime show with the Rolling Stones and a guest appearance with Maroon 5 as they performer Moves Like Jagger would be a fun surprise.
