The Super Bowl is where the stars come out, and it’s no surprise that Jim Nantz will once again be CBS’s play-by-play man for the big game. Nantz calls all the big events for CBS, and this will be his fifth time calling the Super Bowl for the network. For the first time, he will be calling the game without Phil Simms, as former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will join him in the booth. Nantz and Romo have great synergy together, and they are arguably the best broadcast team in the NFL today. I would say the ‘Yes’ is undervalued here. After all, what better word describes the Patriots? Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are looking to win their sixth Super Bowl together, and this is New England’s fourth Super Bowl appearance in the last five seasons. Whenever Nantz and Romo talk about the Patriots’ run its going to be hard to call it anything other than a dynasty. I would say bet the ‘Yes’ all the way up to -500.

Unless Julian Edelman has an incredible game or decides to openly flash his motto multiple times during the game, it’s highly unlikely that Nantz or Romo give the phrase any mention. It was a silly phrase for Edelman to try to use anyway given the Patriots dominance, and he has been largely ridiculed for trying to profit off the phrase. The ‘No’ is good value here.

This seems about right. Even though CBS has gone on the record to say that betting will not be mentioned during the broadcast, the term ‘underdog’ has entered every day parlance. It’s common to call teams favorites and underdogs during a game, and it seems likely that one of the two will mention the Rams are the underdog during the Super Bowl.

The play that everyone remembers from last year’s Super Bowl has received a lot of publicity, but the oddsmakers don’t think it’s likely to get a mention here. I disagree. We’ve seen a number of trick plays in the Super Bowl in recent years, and I think that there will be a montage or a reference to the Philly Special from last year’s game. The ‘Yes’ on this prop is my favorite play at these odds.

Nantz’s welcome phrase has been ubiquitous with the announcer. He first started using it when calling the Masters, and that has spread to his broadcasts during March Madness and NFL games. These are hefty odds on the ‘Yes’, but there is no reason for Nantz not to use his catchphrase unless he has some coin on the side.
