MLB Spreads:  The Kansas City Royals and James Shields visit the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday.  Shields is 6-3 on the season with an ERA of under three but he still could be listed as an underdog on Saturday because this game is on the road in Anaheim. The Los Angeles Angels are expected to go with Matt Shoemaker and even though he is relatively unknown, his overall numbers this season are good. Let’s look at the matchup for Saturday and MLB picks.

James Shields

Shields comes into this game at 6-3 on the season with a 2.67 ERA. He wasn’t great last time out as he allowed three runs in seven innings but he got the win. It is still hard to argue with his results though as he is 3-0 with a 1.71 ERA in his last three starts. He is 6-3 in his career against the Los Angeles Angels with a 3.12 ERA.

Matt Shoemaker

The Los Angeles Angels have been pleased with what they have gotten from Matt Shoemaker this season. He has an ERA of 3.06 on the season. He has made two starts this season, going five innings in one and six in the other.  He allowed two runs in the first start and just one in the second.

Road Team Series

Before Game 1 of this series on Friday it was the Kansas City Royals who had won six of the last ten in Anaheim.  The Los Angeles Angels had won the last four in Kansas City.  The teams normally only play one series per year in Anaheim and the Kansas City Royals have held their own. They won two of the three games last year in Anaheim with two of the three going over.

MLB Picks

The Kansas City Royals will probably get the action in this game because of Shields but Shoemaker has been good and the Los Angeles Angels are the better team. I will take the home team in this one and also play the game under the MLB spreads.
