New Orleans Saints NFL Win Totals
Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Since New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees injured his hand against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, it only makes sense that he’d let that team’s hand specialist fix it. Brees is coming back to L.A. for a surgical procedure to repair a torn ligament in his thumb to be performed by Dr. Steven Shin, who happens to work for the Rams.

#Saints QB Drew Brees' thumb surgery will be performed in L.A. by Dr. Steven Shin, who has an excellent reputation and happens to be the hand consultant for … the #Rams, against whom Brees was injured in a hand-to-hand collision with Aaron Donald at the Coliseum.

Brees will need 6-to-8 weeks to recover from the surgery. He’ll miss multiple key games with playoff implications; at the Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys, at the Chicago Bears and maybe the Atlanta Falcons game on Nov. 10.

Back up Teddy Bridgewater is expected to start those games for the Saints, but don’t be surprised to see Taysom Hill get the call if Bridgewater stumbles.

Pats place Isaiah Wynn on IR

There’s been very little bad news for the New England Patriots over the last couple of weeks, but this could be a blow. Starting offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn will be placed on injured reserve after hurting his toe against the Miami Dolphins Sunday.

Wynn is the second starting lineman the Patriots have lost this season. Center David Andrews is out for the year after discovering blood clots in his lungs. Marcus Cannon, the Pats other tackle, sat out Sunday’s game with a shoulder injury.

Transactions

Defensive end Noah Spence was added by the Washington Redskins. He’s a former second round pick for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The New York Jets’ quarterback desperation has led to the signing of former Miami Dolphins back up David Fales.

Former Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett was added to the New Orleans Saints practice squad.

Former St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams tight end Lance Kendricks was picked up by the Los Angeles Chargers Tuesday. He was with the New England Patriots to open the season, but was cut after a one-game suspension.
