Former U.S. Men’s National Team goalkeeper Brad Guzan has taken on a new chapter in his career, returning to Atlanta United in an off-the-field capacity. The club announced on Thursday that Guzan has been appointed as a club ambassador and sporting advisor.

Guzan retired from professional soccer in 2025 after a distinguished career, including a notable stint with Atlanta United in Major League Soccer. He remains the club’s all-time leader in several goalkeeping categories, including appearances, wins, saves, and shutouts. His performance on the field played a significant role in shaping the team’s competitive history since he joined in 2017.

As a club ambassador, Guzan is expected to represent Atlanta United in community outreach initiatives and public appearances while also engaging with fans and stakeholders. He will serve as a public face for the organization, helping strengthen the club’s connection with its supporters in Atlanta and beyond.

In his role as a sporting advisor, Guzan will offer strategic insights and counsel to the football operations staff. Though not involved in day-to-day coaching or player management, his input will support the development of the team through his extensive professional experience and understanding of the game. His background with the U.S. national team and overseas playing experience in the Premier League are seen as assets to Atlanta United’s evolving sporting strategy.

Guzan’s involvement is expected to provide continuity and reinforce the club’s identity, bridging the current roster with the team’s foundational years. This appointment highlights Atlanta United’s commitment to integrating former players into their long-term vision, fostering both institutional knowledge and player development.

Guzan played over 60 matches for the U.S. Men’s National Team and had a career that included time at Aston Villa and Middlesbrough in England before joining MLS. His return to Atlanta United marks a continued investment in leadership and experience, aimed at supporting the team’s competitive ambitions in coming seasons.
