Luiten and Wiesberger Lead the Field

Golf Odds:  The top two choices to win this week’s European Tour event are Joost Luiten and Bernd Wiesberger.  The field for this week’s Lyoness Open is very top heavy with three golfers listed with odds of less than 10-1 and then the rest of the field at odds of 15-1 or more.  There are actually only five golfers listed with odds of less than 20-1.  Let’s look at the Lyoness Open and golf predictions.

Top Three Choices

There are three golfers of note in this week’s Lyoness Open and then everyone else. Joost Luiten is the top choice with odds of about 6-1 and he is followed by Bernd Wiesberger at 7-1 and Miguel Angel Jimenez at 9-1.  Luiten is the defending champion, Wiesberger is playing on his home course and Jimenez is playing as well as he has in years.  Everyone else is the field is really a longshot to win.

Bernd Wiesberger

It was a disappointing finish for Wiesberger at the BMW PGA Championship, Wiesberger is hoping for better results in this week’s Lyoness Open in Austria.  Wiesberger skipped last week’s Nordea Masters to get ready for this week’s tournament. “Last year the Lyoness Open was the fourth tournament in four weeks. It was mentally and physically very intense. Hence, I have learned that I will properly rest-up for it this year.” said Wiesberger. It is a huge week for Wiesberger who is ranked 68th in the world.  A good showing this week could move him up into the top 60 in the world and that would mean a spot in next week’s U.S. Open.

Golf Predictions

This should be a week where Luiten is the standout and wins so I will take him at golf odds of 6-1.  I really don’t like any of the other contenders or the longshots so I will also make a play on the field as it would not be a shock to see some unknown player win this week.
