Mikel Arteta has firmly rejected the suggestion that Arsenal are “bottlers” as the club navigates a challenging spell in their latest Premier League title pursuit. Speaking as scrutiny increased over his team’s recent dip in form, the Arsenal manager stressed that such terminology does not reflect the mentality within the squad or his own outlook on competition.

Arteta underlined that the word “bottlers” is not part of his vocabulary and does not feature in the way he evaluates his players or their performances. Instead, he framed the current period as another test in a long season, emphasising resilience, consistency and the ability to respond to setbacks as the core measures by which his team should be judged.

The Arsenal manager highlighted that title races are shaped over many months and that momentum can shift multiple times. He acknowledged the disappointment that comes with dropped points but argued that it is essential to distinguish between isolated results and broader progress. According to Arteta, the focus inside the club remains on improving daily, correcting mistakes and maintaining belief in the team’s overall direction.

He also pointed to the competitive nature of the Premier League, where small margins frequently decide matches and league positions can change quickly. Arteta stressed that pressure and expectation are natural at a club of Arsenal’s size, and he framed that pressure as a privilege rather than a burden. In his view, being involved in the title conversation itself is an indication of how far the team has come in recent seasons.

Arteta avoided singling out individuals and instead spoke collectively about the squad’s responsibility to respond. He referenced the importance of leadership within the dressing room, both from senior players and emerging figures, and reiterated that unity and a clear game plan will be central to any response on the pitch.

Looking ahead, Arteta called for calm and perspective from those around the club, while reaffirming that standards remain high. He described the current stretch of the campaign as an opportunity for Arsenal to demonstrate growth, mental strength and consistency in high‑pressure situations. Despite external criticism, Arteta insisted that the team’s internal belief is intact and that the players remain committed to challenging at the top of the table for the remainder of the season.
