Milwaukee Bucks guard Sterling Brown got into an altercation with police over a parking dispute outside of a Walgreens at 2 a.m. Jan. 26. Brown was accosted and undeservedly tased, as TMZ recently shared with video of the incident.

Now, news station WISN 12 has shared more footage of the troubling run-in. The new police video shows the cops involved in the encounter were concerned about looking “racist” and drawing public scrutiny.

“Because he plays for the Bucks, and if he makes a complaint, it’s going to be a f***ing media firestorm,” one officer says on camera.

The conversation continues: “And then any little f***ing thing that goes wrong [with the investigation into the arrest] is going to be, ‘Ooooooh, the Milwaukee Police Department is all racist. Blah, blah, blah.’ And then we end up in civil court. And then the [Distract Attorney] asks, ‘Was all that necessary?'”

Brown has said he plans to file a federal lawsuit against the city. He was not charged in connection with the incident.

Brown released a statement last month.

“This experience with the Milwaukee Police Department has forced me to stand up and tell my story so that I can help prevent these injustices from happening in the future,” he said.

Bucks’ Future

The Milwaukee Bucks posed a challenge to the Boston Celtics in the first round, taking the Celtics to seven games. Milwaukee’s season, however, was a clear disappointment.

The Bucks elected to move on from interim head coach Joe Prunty and landed former Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer, who was a hot commodity around the league.

The Bucks now have Budenholzer, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and a young core that includes Malcolm Brogdon and Thon Maker. They will look to bounce back next season. Expect Milwaukee to contend with Philadelphia, Boston, Toronto, and perhaps Cleveland, depending on LeBron James’ free agency decision.
