Crawford vs Postol Boxing Odds

Crawford vs Postol Boxing Odds – This Saturday, July 23rd, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada and on HBO PPV, super lightweights Terence Crawford and Viktor Postol meet in a 12-round bout. Both men are 28-0 in their respective careers, and Crawford is the WBO world titlist while Postol holds the WBC belt.

This is a big test in Crawford’s career for several different reasons. It is Crawford’s debut on HBO in the main event slot, which means he is counting on his name recognition to sell the fight. Postol, as good as he is, is a non-factor in terms of drawing power, as he has only been fighting for a few fights in the USA and he has exactly one high-profile win on his resume.

Crawford is a top ten pound-for-pound talent and, at 28 years old, he figures to have his prime ahead of him in the coming years. He has already held world titles at both 135 and 140 pounds and he figures to have the frame and talent to be a factor at 147 pounds when he chooses to go there.

It appears as if Top Rank Promotions is hell bent on rolling Manny Pacquiao out before the end of the year, and Crawford has been on the short list for that lucrative fight in the past. He is going to have to get by Postol first in order to be offered the Pac-man fight come November.

Postol would seem to be a high-risk, low-reward opponent for Crawford. Postol is coming off a big win over veteran tough guy Lucas Martin Matthysse, but other than that, his resume is built largely in his home country of the Ukraine. He has a nice amateur resume, but he is does not have the daunting amateur record of a Gennady Golovkin or a Vasyl Lomachenko. at 5’11” tall, he is a tall welterweight, and he will have height and reach advantages over Crawford when they meet. At 32 years old, he is four years older than Crawford and he figures to have less of his prime years left. Moreso than for Crawford, Postol’s time is NOW.

Postol is firmly in the role of spoiler, because even with a definitive win over Crawford, he will likely be skipped over for a fight with Pacquiao. But a win will leave him firmly entrenched in the #1 spot at 140 lbs and it will give him two of the major recognized world titles in the weight class.

Crawford needs to win this fight just to maintain his position, while a win stands to elevate Postol.
