This Saturday, July 26th at Manchester, England’s Phones 4u center Heavyweights Dereck Chisora and Tyson Fury renew their rivalry over 12 rounds.  the fight is an all British affair and sees the 6’10, undefeated Fury as a favorite at (-225), with the return on Chisora at (+190).

Both men are looking for a shot at Wladimir Klitschko and his plethora of World Heavyweight Titles, and a win in this coming fight would further advance their cause.   The two met before, back in July of 2011, and Fury won the UD to capture British Commonwealth titles.  That fight was an even fight at the sport-books at the time, perhaps with a slight lean towards Fury, and the fight played out that way.   Since that first encounter, both men have been all over the media for different reasons, and both are drastically different fighters than they were back in 2011.

Fury has improved a great deal as a boxer and as a technician.  He is still a loud mouth, but he is by no means stupid and he has an opportunity to make a lot of money in the world of boxing post-Klitschko.  He has been screaming for a title shot at Klitschko literally for years, but the fact is that he has taken a cautious approach to his career in terms of opponents, and he has spent that time training and improving all aspects of his game.  If he ever learns to master how to use his awkwardness and size, he thinks he can be dominant in the division.  Chisora has done a good job rehabilitating his image, but Fury has already beaten Chisora, so it is a safe fight for Fury that prepares him for Klitschko next.

Chisora does bring a good bit of big time experience to the fight.  For that first meeting, both men were undefeated at 14-0.  Chisora went on from the loss to go 1-3 in his next four fights, including losees to Wlad’s big brother Vitali and David Haye.  These were big time, marquee fights for Chisora, who tasted the big time of the sport.

Somewhere along the line, Chisora realized to get back to that level of match, and perhaps to win one, was going to take a complete change in lifestyle and dedication.  The results are a 5 fight winning streak and a trimmed down version of Chisora who looks better than ever.  The odds were even for the first fight, and Chisora has also refined and tightened his game up for this fight.  has Fury really improved himself to be a 2.5 to 1 favorite?
