UFC 225 Undercard Odds – The UFC is in Chi-town for their 225 PPV offering and the undercard portion of the card is headlined by Alistair Overeem vs Curtis Blaydes. Both heavyweights are at different stages in their careers but neither man can a afford a loss.
Overeem is coming off a loss to Francis Ngannou where he was flattened in less than two minutes. Still, he is a solid 6-2 in his last eight fights. Netting a win here helps piut the loss to Ngannou behind him while a loss starts a two fight streak. The hard hitting Dutchman is never going to achieve the potential he showed when he stopped Brock Lesnar roughly seven years ago.
Blaydes is 3-0 in the UFC< but that includes wins over Mark Hunt and Alexey Olyneik. Both of those men have comparable ring experience to Overeem but both fell short against Blaydes. Blaydes is 27 years old and he is far the fresher body heading into this one. Overeem at 38 has really slowed down and that is the main factor that sees the books putting Blaydes in the “favorite” spot for this one.

Former women’s 115 pound champion Carla Esparza faces the tough Claudia Gadelha in ths one. Gadelha is 2-1 since losing her second fight to divisional star Joanne Jedrzejczyk. Esparza is 3-1 since losing the belt to Jedrzejczyk herself and she owns a win over Rose Namajunas, the new champion in the weight class.
Good fights can be found on the UFC Fight Pass for starters as several veterans are relegated to warm-up duty. Sergio Pettis versus Joseph Benavidez is a top notch fight, unfortunately it comes in the rarely pushed Flyweight division. At lightweight, veterans Charles Oliveira and Clay Guida are set to tangle and the light heavyweight division sees veteran Rashad Evans return to take on Anthony Smith.
Evnaas on the UFC Fight Pass is a true sign of a fighter who has fallen. The former light heavyweight champion Evans is 2-6 in his last eight fights and what is worse is he is showing a lot of signs of slowing down. Evans had already faced the calls to hang them up but instead he is moving back up to 205 pounds. What is the point here for Evans besides perhaps grabbing a few more paychecks. If he gets stopped by Smith Evans and the UFC should both listen to the calls for retirement.
