Conor McGregor Odds – Though we have not seen him in the octagon since November of 2016, Conor McGregor remains the biggest name in the UFC. The Irishman has not even competed since August of last year when he had his boxing match with Floyd Mayweather Jr, yet the books have odds with McGregor’s name all over them in order to attract attantion. Check out an example of the odds the books are carrying featuring The Notorious One.

UFC die hards have long thought of McGregor as beatable, but the truth is with Chad Mendes, Jose Aldo, Eddie Alvarez and Nate Diaz all on his resume as wins, the guy has held up his end of the bargain.

After McGregor was stripped of the UFC’s lightweight title, the champion who emerged is rugged Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov. The 29 year old is a perfect 26-0 and with American Tony Ferguson on a ten fight winning streak, it would appear the UFC has a very credible title fight at 155 pounds without McGregor.

So, if you look at the odds, Ferguson is coming in as a +170 underdog to Khabib. That is understandable, sine Khabib, who is known as “The Eagle” has really been formidable in his UFC run. Ferguson is solid and he has a chance, but “The Eagle” is expected to remain undefeated.

Now, look at the odds the books are carrying for a potential showdown between Khabib and McGregor, the former champion who never really lost the belt. McGregor is just a +175 underdog, pretty much the same as Ferguson. The die hard can decide if that sounds right or if McGregor is getting too much respect all of a sudden.

To keep himself relevant, the now retired 40 year old Floyd Mayweather Jr has even threatened to rematch McGregor in the octagon.

Floyd fooled nobody and there is not a soul out there that wanted to see Floyd in the UFC. He put a few videos on social media of him in a cage, but he was never going to enter the octagon. But of course the shameless one Mayweather Jr invokes the Irishman’s name.

Here is the main thing with Conor. At the end of the day,the Mayweather fight happened with Dana White and the UFC’s permission and he is sitll under contract to the UFC. Assuming McGregor gets a slap on the wrist for the incident in Brooklyn that saw him launch a hand truck through a bus window, his next fight will have to be in the octagon.

That is where someone is going to have to give. People are going to want to sese him again, so assume the PPV does a gob of sales and the UFC cuts him in for a better piece. What is he gonna make for that, $15 million, maybe $20 million? Though that is money no one else in the UFC has ever made, it is also a HUGE paycut for McGregor. With that in mind, you have to ask yourself will we ever see Conor McGregor fight again at all?
