The Toronto Raptors are 3-point underdogs tonight in Boston against the struggling Celtics, which is a bit of a head-scratcher given the recent struggles of the team in green.

Toronto comes in having won seven of eight, and this is an ESPN game — the type of game in which Kawhi Leonard tends to shine.

In the latest episode of Chris Sheridan’s podcast, Josh Lewenberg of TSN in Toronto made one very bold prediction: Kawhi Leonard is going to stay with the Raptors through the entire season. There have been many Raptors guests on Sheridan’s podcasts, and Lewenberg’s prediction was the boldest of them all.

HOW MANY TRADES WILL BE MADE AT THE DEADLINE? OVER/UNDER is 9 1/2

Lewenberg also told a great story about Vince Carter’s most recent return to Toronto, and the standing ovation he received from the very same fans who once booed him every time he touched the ball.

Carter is the league’s elder statesman, and it remains to be seen whether he sticks with the last-place Atlanta Hawks, gets traded, or accepts a buyout to join a postseason contender.

Might he re-sign with Toronto?

Hey, happy endings are not unknown in this business. (Or other businesses).

The Vince Carter who once won the NBA slam dunk contest and the Vince Carter who is wearing an Atlanta Hawks jersey are two very different animals, but hey … you never know.

Stay tuned.
