Boston Celtics Kemba Walker NBA

The Boson Celtics were one of the teams known around the NBA to be shopping a big name. After being knocked out of the playoffs by the Brooklyn Nets in the first round, it was only a matter of time before Kemba Walker was playing somewhere else.

It turns out that they were able to get a deal together very quickly. The Celtics announced today that they were trading Walker to the Oklahoma City Thunder after a 2-year run with Boston. Walker was traded to the Celtics in a sign and trade deal with Charlotte that was worth $141 million over 4 years.

Boston sends Walker as well as a 2021 first-round draft pick and a 2025 second-round draft pick to OKC. In return, they were able to get  Al Horford, Moses Brown, and a 2023 second-round draft pick. The Celtics have been desperately lacking big men in their rotation over the last few seasons, and it showed in the NBA playoffs this year.

Walker will now head to OKC where he can hopefully replicate some of the success he’s had in Charlotte and Boston. Injuries slowed him up during the final year with the Celtics and played in just 43 games.
