The ball went 496 feet, making it the longest home run ever hit by a left-handed batter at Coors Field and the second longest home run ever hit by any batter, following only Giancarlo Stanton’s 504-foot blast in 2016. Sánchez’s home run is the longest in the Major Leagues this season, surpassing Mike Trout’s 472 foot shot hit on April 14 in Arlington.
Mattingly later confirmed that this was no ordinary upper-deck home run. Mattingly stated, “You will hit more balls to the upper deck.” “But there aren’t many others like it. I would like to see a photograph of the spot where the ball landed. It probably appears to be two blocks away.”
