Canelo vs Golovkin 2 Odds

Canelo vs Golovkin 2 Odds – After much back and forth, the rematch between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin is set for September 15.

The bout was originally scheduled for this past “Cinco de Mayo” but a positive drug test on the part of Alvarez caused that date to go by the wayside. Alvarez was suspended for six months and that suspension is up or the September 15th date. Golovkin was able to get more money out of the Alvarez camp for this fight, though the 50/50 split he coveted continued to elude him. At the end of the day, Alvarez represents the biggest fight out there for Triple G and Golovkin is going to go where the money is. Taking less in negotiations to make the fight is still more appealing than fighting Jermal Charlo or Danny Jacobs for a lot less money.

Golovkin did fight in May, when he made short work of late replacement Vanes Marterosyan, stopping him in round two. Though the outcome was expected, Golovkin did show that he is able to shut out the pressure and controversy surrounding the Alvarez rematch and get the job done in the ring. With hundreds of amateur wins and an undefeated pro career, nothing less was expected from Triple G but it was good to see him perform just the same.

Canelo vs Golovkin 2 Odds

One of the things that makes the match compelling is that the odds are competitive. The two men have gone 12 rounds already and that opens the rematch up to a lot of potential new factors.

The first meeting between the two resulted ia draw, however most of the boxing public out there feel Golovkin did enough to win. For his part, “Canelo” has always maintained that he feels a draw was fair, and in his favor, the Mexican fighter was never really in any severe danger against Golovkin. Some of Golovkin’s detractors point out to the fact that Golovkin seemed to tire in the late going while Alvarez appeared to come on in the last three rounds.

Though Alvarez is the one that failed the drug test, he took the time of the suspension to have his knee scoped and cleaned. He will enter the ring confident in September, not really showing any effects of the “punishment” he is supposedly coming off of.

Golovkin tuned 36 this past April and he should be grateful that the fight got done now and that the delay didn’t take the fight into 2019 and beyond. he was unable to score the knock out or even significantly hurt Alvarez the first time so he knows he is going to have to up his game if he can.

“Canelo” as an underdog is an interesting opportunity for the bettor. Golovkin already learned the dangers of leaving the fight to the judges but all he can do is try to pressure Alvarez more. Meanwhile, if Alvarez were to come out of his defensive posture and force Golovkin to fight from his back foot more, he will then have Golovkin out of his comfort zone,
