Johnny Cueto and the Reds could mow down Milwaukee

Our Tuesday lineup features a diversified list of good values and a couple of power picks as well.  We are also taking advantage of some pitching matchups.  We are using Draft Kings prices.

P – Johnny Cueto – Cincinnati

Cueto opened at $9,000.  The Reds host the Milwaukee Brewers with a starting time of 6:10 p.m. ET.  The woeful Brewers are 4-15 and rank 29th for run production, 26th for batting average, 29th for OPS, and 29th for home runs.  Cueto is off to an outstanding start with a 1.86 ERA and a .188 batting average against.  Cueto has allowed just five walks, 19 hits, and six earned runs against in 29 innings of work and four starts.

C – Geovanni Soto – Chicago White Sox

Soto opened at $3,500.  The White Sox are at the Baltimore Orioles with a starting time of 6:05 p.m. ET.  Baltimore starter Chris Tillman has a 7.58 ERA with a batting average of .297 surrendered.  Tillman has allowed 16 earned runs, 16 hits, four home runs and 13 walks in 19 innings of work and four starts.  This opens the door for Soto who is off to a horrific start at .158 and an OPS of .474.  Soto is far below his career averages and brings plenty of potential upside in this situation.

1B – Justin Morneau – Colorado

Morneau opened at $4,600.  The Rockies are at the Arizona Diamondbacks with a starting time of 8:40 p.m. ET.  Morneau is one of the reasons why the Rockies are off to a surprise start and showing promise.  Morneau is hitting .279 on the season and .364 for the past week.  Morneau has hit safely in seven out of his last nine games.

2B – Chris Owings – Arizona

Owings opened at $4,200.  Colorado starter Kyle Kendrick is off to a poor start with a 6.85 ERA with 29 hits, 10 walks, six home runs and a .309 batting average allowed.  That should open the door for Owings, who is off to a sluggish start at .226 with just seven runs and seven RBI.  Owings is far below his career averages and makes for a potentially productive value buy.

3B – Nolan Arenado – Colorado

Arenado opened at $4,500.  Arenado is off to an outstanding start with a .317 average and .955 OPS.  Arenado has 11 runs with 11 RBI so far on the season to go with eight doubles and three home runs.  Colorado has been one of the surprise teams in the game so far with a promising 10-8 start.  The Arizona bullpen ranks a poor 22nd in MLB for ERA with just one save

SS – Brian Dozier – Minnesota

Dozier opened at $4,200.  The Twins host the Detroit Tigers with a starting time of 7:10 p.m. ET.  Detroit starter Anibal Sanchez is off to a slow start with a 5.96 ERA with five home runs allowed in 22.2 innings of work in four starts.  Dozier has hardly impressed with a .203 batting average but does have 12 runs and five RBI and a solid shot at a good night against Dozier.

OF – Nelson Cruz – Seattle

Cruz opened at opened at $5,100.  The Mariners are at the Texas Rangers with a starting time of 7:05 p.m. ET.  Texas starter Ross Detwiler has been shelled for a 10.95 ERA in his first three starts with 25 hits and five home runs allowed in three starts.  Cruz is off to a great start for the Mariners with a .310 average and 1.08 OPS with 11 runs 20 RBI and nine home runs.

Sleeper – Justin Upton – San Diego

Upton opened at $4,400.  The Padres host the Houston Astros with a starting time of 9:10 p.m. ET.  Upton was one of the major reasons why the Padres got so much attention and hype over the winter and has lived up to billing.  Upton has flexed his muscles for a .290 batting average with five home runs, 13 runs, and 13 RBI.  The Astros may be playing above their heads right now at 11-7 and San Diego wants to slam the breaks off a stretch in which they have lost four out of their last five.
