Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has been named to the United States’ newly formed “Board of Peace,” an initiative introduced by U.S. President Donald Trump. The announcement, made during the formal unveiling of the board on Thursday, included Al Mubarak among a group of global business and civic leaders whose mission is to promote dialogue and cooperation across international boundaries.

Al Mubarak, who has served as Manchester City’s chairman since 2008, is also the Chief Executive Officer of Mubadala Investment Company, based in Abu Dhabi. Under his leadership, Manchester City has achieved significant success on and off the pitch, becoming a prominent force in both domestic and European competitions. His inclusion on the Board of Peace reflects growing diplomatic and cultural outreach initiatives involving the United Arab Emirates and the United States.

While specific objectives of the board have not yet been fully disclosed, officials close to the matter stated that the group is expected to explore strategies for conflict resolution, cultural exchange, and educational programs aimed at fostering peaceful relations across different communities and nations.

Al Mubarak’s role on the board is seen as an extension of broader efforts to increase global cooperation through sports, business, and diplomacy. Manchester City and its parent organization, City Football Group, have expanded internationally in recent years, with investments and partnerships in multiple countries. This global footprint, alongside Al Mubarak’s involvement in international economic and diplomatic forums, likely contributed to his selection.

The formation of the Board of Peace comes amid heightened global tensions and follows a series of initiatives hosted by the U.S. aimed at strengthening international alliances. Al Mubarak’s appointment has drawn interest not only in political and business spheres but also among football fans, highlighting the increasingly interconnected nature of global leadership, sports, and diplomacy.

Further details about the board’s composition and its first initiatives are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
