The Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to trade forward De’Andre Hunter to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for guard Dennis Schroder and wing Keon Ellis, according to sources familiar with the deal. The transaction represents a roster realignment for both teams as they seek to strengthen specific areas of need ahead of the final months of the regular season.

De’Andre Hunter, a versatile forward known for his defensive capabilities and spot-up shooting, heads to Sacramento after a stint with the Cavaliers. Though primarily recognized for his work on the defensive end, Hunter has also shown flashes of offensive versatility. His ability to guard multiple positions is expected to complement the Kings’ defensive schemes.

In return, Cleveland acquires veteran point guard Dennis Schroder and emerging wing Keon Ellis. Schroder, a seasoned NBA playmaker, brings experience off the bench or as a potential starter. Known for his quickness, ball-handling, and ability to penetrate defenses, Schroder adds depth to Cleveland’s backcourt rotation. With a track record that includes international play and stints with several NBA teams, his leadership and dynamic style could provide immediate impact.

Keon Ellis, meanwhile, is a younger player with defensive upside and long-range shooting potential. After entering the league as an undrafted player, Ellis developed his game through persistent work, earning a spot in Sacramento’s rotation. In Cleveland, he could find more opportunities to grow as a two-way contributor.

Both teams are aiming to optimize their rosters for postseason positioning. The Kings, adding Hunter, reinforce their forward depth with a player who offers playoff experience and dependable perimeter defense. The Cavaliers, by securing Schroder and Ellis, strengthen their guard play and add flexibility with younger talent.

The trade is pending league approval and all standard physicals.

The move reflects each team’s effort to balance their current lineups and long-term competitiveness. No draft picks were reported to be involved in the deal.
