MLB odds:  The Miami Marlins have emerged as the surprise team in Major League Baseball and one of the top betting values on the MLB board as an upstart contender in the National League East Division.  The New York Mets continue to wallow in the bottom of the NL East as a team that has yet to overcome years of mismanagement.  The Miami Marlins will host the New York Mets at Marlins Park on Thursday night with coverage on MLBN starting at 7:10 PM ET.

Weak Offensive Met-rics

The Mets were 15-18 on the road and were struggling to score runs as they rank 22nd for run production, 28th for batting average, 29th for OPS, and 27th for home runs.  The Mets are getting respectable pitching as they rank 12th for earned run average and 4th for quality starts.  The Mets are 40-27 on the run line and went under the total in just 8 out of 33 away games.

Reeling in the Cash

The Marlins were 22-12 at home and went under the total in just 11 out of 34 home games.  Miami ranks 5th in MLB for run production and 16th for staff ERA.  The Marlins were struggling in the field as they rank 28th for fewest errors committed.  Giancarlo Stanton was proving to be an emerging star with a .305 batting average and 18 home runs.

The Pick

The Marlins have won 12 out of their last 16 home games against the Mets and have been one of the best values on the board when playing at Marlins Park.  Miami continues to fly under the radar of the betting public which makes them an appealing choice in this one!
