Selby vs Warrington Odds

Selby vs Warrington Odds – The IBF world featherweight title is on the line in Leeds this Saturday as champion Lee Selby defends against Josh Warrington.

Selby (26-1) is making the fifth defense of his IBF world belt against the undefeated Warrington (26-0). Selby won his world title against Evgeny Gradovich back in May of 2015, so he has had time to grow with the belt. On a world level the featherweight division is stacked and includes Carl “The Jackal” Frampton, a world champion who has done what Selby has not done and that is fight outside of the U.K.

Selby is going to fight Warrington in his hometown of Leeds. Sometimes in these fights between two British fighters that means a lot. In this case Warrington has a strong following and a bit of credit is due Selby for stepping into the lion’s den. But don’t go gushing over the credit either, as Selby has his own backing at this point among the rabid UK fans.

One thing is almost a certainty and that is that we will not see a knock out in this one. Selby has 9 knockouts in his career and Warrington has a mere 6 KO’s on his resume. Bringing boxing acumen to  fight with Selby is a tough proposition as Selby is a very organized boxer who counts on his length and punch placement to outpoint his opposition. The lone loss of his career came back in 2009 in just his fifth professional fight, so he has been winning for a long time. Warrington has been working to get this shot for a long time and sometimes in this type of rivalry or “grudge” type of bout the normal rules don’t apply.

Promoter Frank Warren and his Queensberry Promotions have put together a big thirteen fight boxing card that sees several of the other bouts getting attention at the sports books already. The evening’s featured bouts are set to air on BT Sport in the U.K, so you can check your local listings for start times. Below are the current odds as we get into fight week.

Fans of women’s fighting have a chance to see the U.K.’s Nicola Adams continue her career progression as she looks to go 4-0 when she faces Argentinian veteran Soledad del Valle Frias (13-11-4). Adams is an Olympian with a strong amateur pedigree so it is not surprising that she is trying to move her pro career fast.

Argentina is a hotbed of women’s boxing and del Valle Frias is a very battle tested opponent. In her last outing this past April, she extended WBA light flyweight world champion Yesica Bopp (34-1) into the sixth round before falling. She will be another test for the young Adams, who defeated a similar pedigree’d veteran in Soledad Macedo (17-14) in her last fight. The odds say Adams all the way in this one, and on paper that should be the case as Adams brings athleticism, speed and technique advantages to this one.
