This year’s Open Championship, also known as the British Open, is wide open. The course is running fast and hard and that alone brings 40-50 players into the mix. Short hitters are now long hitters giving almost everyone in the field a chance to win.

Clark Burroughs starts Podcast #79 by talking about the world of golf – who is hot and who is not heading into this week’s third major championship of the year – the 147th Open Championship where Jordan Spieth is the defending champion.  Burroughs makes his picks along with a special guest, Angus Hamilton. They give you their opinions for the week as well as helping you set your fantasy team. Our host record for the year is 45-29-6 for the year. Burroughs dishes on this week’s action on all the tours across the world.

The Golf Undigested Podcast with Clark Burroughs, a former PGA Tour player and proud Ohio State Buckeye, dishes out his latest news and musings in the world of golf. FAVORITE

The course is so dry and hard that many players will not use a driver. This fits right into Tiger Woods +2020 game. He struggles with the driver – but guess what – he won’t have to hit it. He’s been on the verge and lurking on the leaderboard in multiple starts this year. Maybe this week he shocks the world and picks up major No. 15. Never count him out. Sorry Coolsy.

VALUE

Paul Casey +3250 is 40 years old and running out of time to earn his first major. The Englishman has the game and always seems to be in contention in big events, but always comes up short. He’s now ranked No. 12 in the world and it’s time to show it. He was T27 at Carnoustie in 2007 and has since added T7 at Royal Birkdale in 2008, T3 at St. Andrews in 2010 and T11 at Birkdale again last year. He’s in good form. He finished runner-up at the Travelers in his last start. He’s consistent too – he finished T15 (Masters) and T16 (U.S. Open) in this years two majors.

FADE

Don’t waste your time on Phil Mickelson +4599 this week. He’s got all kinds of things going on in his head right now – rules violations, missed cuts and who knows what else. His game is not very good right now – he says all the right things – but the bottom line is that he’s not in good form. Stay Away!
