2018 Fiesta Bowl - LSU Tigers vs. Central Florida Knights
2018 Fiesta Bowl - LSU Tigers vs. Central Florida Knights

Don’t spend your entire New Year’s Week stuck to the TV, but if you’re watching college football bowls this week we have a few picks that could make your Jan 1, 2019 start off on the right foot!

Contents
  • Fiesta Bowl: LSU (9-3, 6-6 ATS) vs. Central Florida (12-0, 9-3 ATS)
    • 1 p.m. ET, Jan. 1, Glendale, Arizona, ESPN

The only games of any consequence to the national championship picture, of course, are the College Football Playoff semifinals, which this year were at the Cotton Bowl and the Orange Bowl which were on Dec. 29.

But we have a few of the top SmartBETS with some sharp picks for those who want to start off the new year with an extra green bulge in their front pocket.

Fiesta Bowl: LSU (9-3, 6-6 ATS) vs. Central Florida (12-0, 9-3 ATS)

1 p.m. ET, Jan. 1, Glendale, Arizona, ESPN

Odds Provided by BetDSI.com

LSU Tigers                            -7½                  -300        ov 55½
UCF Knights                         +-7½               +240        un 55½

The Central Florida Knights capped an unbeaten season last year by beating Auburn in the Peach Bowl and then claimed a national championship for itself.  No doubt the Knights will do the same thing this year if they can beat another traditional SEC power in a New Year’s Six bowl game.

The LSU Tigers are the favorites  in this game by 7½ points, with the game total at 55½.
A repeat of UCF’s last years performance could score our Smart Bettors with $240 in your pocket off a smart $50 deposit.

LSU Tigers    9-3, 6-6 ATS, 7-5 O-U

UCF Knights 12-0 SU, 9-3 ATS,  4-8 O-U

Both teams will be missing key players in this game. UCF quarterback McKenzie Milton is out for the season with an injury though his replacement, Darriel Mack, was very impressive in an AAC Championship win against Memphis.   LSU will be missing both starting cornerbacks, as Greedy Williams has declared for the NFL draft and is skipping the game, and Kristian Fulton is hurt.

Picks & Predictions:  UCF +7.5, OVER 55.5

The task might be a little more difficult this year for The Central Florida Knights, considering LSU figures to be more motivated to win than Auburn was last year.  The Tigers have had a 9-win season and they are anxious to rid their mouths of the taste of a seven-overtime loss at Texas A&M in their final regular-season game.  Plus, they’ll feel the need to represent SEC pride in a conference that absolutely believes in that sort of thing.

That leaves what should be a very entertaining game,  that comes down to the final possession.  LSU could win outright, with UCF covering the points, but with the UCF at +240, we’ll go with the Knights to repeat their victory from last year.
