Los Angeles Angels at Detroit Tigers Odds

The Tigers are 24-30 SU and 30-23 ATS. They’ve gained 2.1 units for bettors taking the moneyline and 3.0 units against the spread (ATS). Detroit has a 3-4 ATS mark over its last seven games and the under has hit in four of those seven. The Angels have gone 30-25 SU this year and are 26-28 ATS. Overall, the team’s gained 1.2 units for moneyline gamblers, but have lost 2.4 units ATS. Los Angeles is 3-4 ATS over its last seven games and the total has gone under in three of those seven.

Detroit games have had an over/under record of 23-28-2 so far in 2018. The Angels have an over/under record of 25-26-3.

Right-hander Shohei Ohtani will get the start for the visiting Angels. Ohtani is 4-1 with a 3.35 ERA and 52 strikeouts. He has yet to face the Tigers this year and did not record a start against them in 2017, either.

The Tigers are handing the ball to righty Mike Fiers (4-3, 4.78 ERA), who’s got 32 punchouts and 10 walks, as well as a 1.33 WHIP. Fiers made three starts against the Angels in 2017, posting a 2-1 record with a 6.19 ERA.

As a unit, Detroit’s pitchers have given up 4.7 runs per game overall this season. The team’s starters have a 4.23 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 7.2 strikeouts per nine innings. The bullpen has a 4.61 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 8.2 K/9.

The Detroit offense is putting up 4.2 runs per outing, including 3.3 per game over its last 10 games and 4.6 per game over its last five. The team has slashed .283/.343/.476 over its last five contests and is 3-2 SU during that span.

Right fielder Nicholas Castellanos and shortstop Jose Iglesias have led the Tigers’ batters this year. Castellanos is slashing .319/.365/.495 with five home runs, 28 RBIs and 28 runs scored, while Iglesias has put up a line of .251/.303/.366 with 46 hits, 17 RBIs, 20 runs and seven steals.

For the visitors, Los Angeles’ pitching staff allowed 4.1 runs per game and its starters own a 3.78 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 9.18 K/9. The bullpen has an ERA of 3.61, along with a K/9 of 9.03.

The Angels offense has slashed .249/.328/.423 on its way to 4.7 runs scored per game in 2018, including 4.9 runs per game over the team’s last 10 games and 5.0 per game over the team’s last five outings (2-3 SU).

Los Angeles’ hitters have been led by shortstop Andrelton Simmons and right fielder Mike Trout, who have combined to launch 22 home runs. Simmons is slashing .335/.403/.477 with four home runs, 32 RBIs, 32 runs and five steals, while Trout is slashing .302/.447/.672 with 18 homers, 35 RBIs, 46 runs and 12 stolen bases.

The Angels have gained 5.0 units and are 22-20 ATS when facing a righty starter this season. The over has hit in 19 of those games, compared to 20 that’ve gone under against right-handed starting pitchers. On the other hand, the Tigers have lost 0.5 units and are 21-18 ATS when facing a right-handed starting pitcher. The over’s hit in 13 of those games, compared to 24 which went under the total.
